   About Filadelfios

New York may have the big apple, but there's only one place that has perfected the art of great pizza, and it's a little closer to home than you may think.
Filadelfio's Gourmet Pizza Restaurant and Bar is a pizza-lover's dream come true.

Situated at 150 Colombo Street, the popular restaurant is an ideal venue in which to gather your nearest and dearest for a lunch or evening out, where excellent food, premium beer and wine and a friendly atmosphere make all the difference.

On Mondays and Tuesdays, Filadelfio's offers a meal deal that is exceptional value for money. For $26.50, guests can help themselves to a medium gourmet pizza, with garlic bread or a bowl of seasoned wedges and sour cream, and two handles of beer.
The restaurant's gourmet pizza menu will impress. Guests can choose from 20 gourmet-favourite pizzas, including the house speciality: smoked chicken with cranberry sauce and brie.
All pizzas have a special base with a tomato sauce and New Zealand mozzarella cheese. Medium pizzas for two or three adults are $19, and large pizzas for three or four adults are $29. Gluten-free bases are also available.
There are seven international pizza flavours, from Indian to Scottish, and seven vegetarian options, such as the New Delhi, with banana, yoghurt and coconut on a curry sauce, or Central Park with garlic, sun-dried tomato, spinach, a kumara and pumpkin mix, feta and tomatoes.
On the restaurant's blackboard menu is the special 5th Avenue pizza, a mouth-watering combination of chicken, cream cheese and apricot sauce _ perfect for those who enjoy chicken and cranberry combinations but who want to try something a little different.
The new Italian flat bread with sweet chilli sauce, parmesan and cream cheese is also proving popular.
``We offer great service, and our food is home-made and fresh. It's exceedingly good value," says owner Tony Marriner.
Carbonara, fettuccine, ravioli and spaghetti pasta in creamy chicken, salmon, mushroom and bacon combinations will tempt the tastebuds, as will the antipasto platter, seafood chowder and fresh chicken and greek salads.
All salads are freshly made to order. For example, the warm beef salad at $11.50, offers a tantalising mix of marinated beef, cherry tomatoes, capsicums, mushrooms, red onion and garlic, lightly sautéed and served on a bed of salad greens with a ginger dressing and crispy noodles.
Dessert pizzas, cheesecake and Mississippi mudcake are among the sweet delights including sticky date pudding, while leading New Zealand wines such as Stoneleigh and Church Road, and Monteith's beer varieties create an extensive beverage list.
Filadelfio's also has a new lunch special. For $10, diners can enjoy fresh soup of the day, a cake and choice of coffee.
Office shouts and parties now in full swing, bookings for private functions are welcome at Filadelfio's. Its large function room away from the main restaurant, complete with lounge chairs, a couch, large flat-screen television and pool table provides the perfect entertainment between meals.
